Disney On Ice

Last weekend, we took our two little boys to the new Disney on Ice show in at the CFG Bank Arena and it was a truly magical experience! It’s always an adventure taking toddlers to an event, but this show delivered plenty of kid-friendly excitement, engaging performances, and magical Disney moments that kept them captivated from start to finish.

If you’re considering a trip to Disney on Ice with toddlers, here’s a full rundown of our experience and some tips to help make your visit as smooth as possible.

Why Disney on Ice is Perfect for Toddlers

Disney on Ice is full of all the things toddlers love: bright colors, favorite characters, lively music, and fun surprises. Here’s what made it so ideal for our boys:

  • Familiar Characters: The show featured so many Disney favorites—Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and characters from Frozen, The Little Mermaid, Moana, Toy Story, and more. Every time a new character skated out, our boys’ faces lit up with excitement. The familiar faces made it easy for them to follow along.
  • High Energy and Fun Music: The non-stop action on the ice combined with upbeat music kept our toddlers entertained. The performers skated and danced to classic Disney songs as well as some modern favorites, which our boys loved clapping and dancing along to in their seats.
  • Engaging Performances: From mesmerizing light shows to stunning skating tricks, there were plenty of wow moments. The show included lots of movement, colors, and action, which is ideal for keeping toddlers engaged.

Highlights of the Show

Our boys especially loved:

  1. The “Frozen” Segment: Elsa and Anna were a huge hit! The “Let It Go” performance was complete with sparkling lights and “snow” falling from above, which made it truly magical for little ones.
  2. Mickey and Minnie: As hosts, Mickey and Minnie skated in frequently to introduce each story, which helped keep the show moving along and kept the toddlers hooked as they waited to see their favorite friends again.
  3. Buzz Lightyear and Woody: The Toy Story segment was fun and playful, with lots of toy-themed props and energetic skating that our little ones loved. The boys cheered out loud as Woody and Buzz made their way onto the ice!
  4. Interactive Moments: There were parts of the show where characters waved at the audience or encouraged kids to sing along, which made our boys feel like they were part of the fun. They loved waving back and “helping” the characters with clapping and singing.

Tips for Attending Disney on Ice with Toddlers

Taking toddlers to a show can be challenging, so here are some tips that worked well for us:

  1. Pick Seats Strategically: We chose seats a little farther back, which gave our boys a great view of the whole stage without feeling too close to the lights and sounds. Being near an aisle was also helpful, allowing us to make quick exits if needed.
  2. Dress Warmly: It’s chilly in the arena (which makes sense since it’s on ice!), so we layered up to keep the kids warm and comfortable throughout the show.
  3. Bring Snacks: Disney on Ice can be a bit long for toddlers, so we brought along some snacks and drinks to keep the kids occupied during the slower moments. Popcorn and juice were lifesavers and kept them engaged between their favorite parts.
  4. Prepare for Souvenirs: Like any Disney event, there were plenty of souvenir stands. We set a budget beforehand and let each boy choose one item. This kept everyone happy and prevented any mid-show meltdowns.

Our Final Thoughts

Attending Disney on Ice in Baltimore was a fantastic way to introduce our boys to a live performance. The colorful costumes, favorite characters, and action-packed performances had them smiling, clapping, and cheering the entire time. Seeing the magic of Disney brought to life on the ice made it a memorable experience for all of us, and I think it’s something our family will treasure for years.

If you’re on the fence about bringing toddlers to Disney on Ice, we absolutely recommend it! With a little planning, it’s a wonderful way to spend quality time as a family and create magical memories with your little ones. We’ll definitely be back next year, and our boys are already talking about their favorite characters from the show!
