5 Minute Salsa
If there are two things I could eat endlessly, it’s chips and salsa. While there are countless ready made options, I love making everything homemade, especially because homemade salsa is just SO EASY.
While at NYU in my food science course I had the opportunity to replicate a staple store bought salsa upwards of 10 times. We used all the ingredients on the label and although the flavors were all there, there was still something missing. When we added a food preservative (citric acid), the final product tasted just like the store bought option. This food preservative is natural, but I found that to be interesting as it wasn’t listed on the label. This experience just served as another reminder to make everything you can from scratch. Companies can hide ingredients if they are combined with something else on the ingredient label.
When it comes to salsa, I’ve been making mine for years. I typically roast all my veggies to derive even more flavor, but sometimes it’s more ideal to whip up something quick and easy especially when you’re pregnant or entertaining. (I ate the entire bowl in a few days lol). In addition to enjoying salsa with your typical tortilla chips, I love to throw fresh salsa on everything. Salads, sandwiches, I mean, …everything! It’s a great way to pack on more veggies and flavor.
What’s fab about this salsa, is everything! It’s easy, affordable, packs that restaurant style salsa flavor, all veggies, notes of cumin, perf for any season, takes minutes to throw together, can easily be made in bulk, and is hands down my fave effortless salsa recipe!
If you’re searching for that staple salsa that you can enjoy throughout the week or bring to your next gathering, this is it! You’re going to love this 5 Minute Salsa!
