Vegan Crispy Smashed Potatoes with Jalapeño Ranch

No matter what the season, potatoes are always a go! While I love your everyday potatoes, it’s great to mix it up and add some flavor. How to do that? Pair it with a sauce! Long ago I once viewed a sauce as stressful. What goes together? Does it make sense?
Bottom line, you can’t go wrong with creating a sauce. As long as you have a base such as sour cream and olive oil, you can mix it whatever you like and tailor it to the cuisine. That being said, there is nothing better than a lil spice added to staple sauces.. and just like that, the new Crispy Potatoes with Jalapeño Ranch was born!
When it comes to traditional ranch, I’m not crazy about it. I always gravitated more towards blue cheese. However, the dill and parsley in ranch I love, and if you throw in some heat, I’m game! There are a variety of jalapeño ranch’s online, but this one is my favorite for many reasons. It combines the staple ranch ingredients, but with a fun twist featuring cilantro, lime and jalapeño! Typically people go one way or the other, but never both, and this is a total win!

So whats the craze with smashed potatoes? I’ll tell you! I love potatoes in any form, but there is something about smashed that just really surpasses all other approaches. It’s crispy, crunchy, easy to eat, and somehow more filling in my opinion. (perhaps from the skin) Is it worth the extra step of boiling? Yes, every second!

It’s your staple smashed potatoes, quick, easy, crispy, the sauce has notes of garlic, parsley, cilantro, lime and a hint of heat, it’s perfect for any season, a perfect side dish you can adjust the heat factor, spices and consistency, you can throw it on a salad or taco, can easily be made in bulk, and the pairing of these carbs with the jalapeño ranch, is just seamless!
