When it comes to side dishes, many of us fall short. However, with just some herbs and spices and citrus, you can completely transform a dish. If you haven’t arrived at a place where you love a good veggies dish, it’s probably because you’re missing the mark when it comes to deriving flavor. You have to pack on the flavor or veggies can be a complete miss.
One of my personal favorite veggies? Some Broccoli Rabe!
If you’re not familiar with it, it similar to the classic broccoli, but has bitter notes and just more flavor in my opinion. Not only does it pack more flavor, but it takes less time to cook too. Simply blanch it, sauté it and boom.. you have my favorite Broccoli Rabe! It’s so easy, I honestly contemplated featured it for years out of the potential disinterest from readers. I’m telling you though, it’s a must try!
What’s fab about this dish? Everything! It’s quick, easy, perfect for any season, doesn’t even use butter, can easily be made in bulk, will compliment any main dish, you can skip the cheese or use vegan parm if desiring a vegan version, it has notes of garlic, lemon, and accented with parmesan to complete the dish!
