Labeless Nutrition

It’s been a long time coming, but please join me in closing the door to EDS, and welcoming the new.

There is so much to unpack when it comes to diets today. So many layers to why we simply gravitate towards certain foods. It’s rooted in our history, religious beliefs, trends and more.

Food is the common ground, the universal experience, and the thread that binds us all together.

Eat Drink Shrink was founded on the belief that you can eat what you want, drink what you want, even shrink if it’s your objective by making plants your base. Since its inception, EDS was never a space to advocate for shrinking or to promote diet culture. It was very disjointed. While unintentional, to think that I contributed to this pervasive issue, hit me at the core. My sincerest apologies to anyone who felt triggered by that word.

As someone who has lived through all the diet trends, overcame disordered eating, and even studied eating disorders, I promise.. you don’t need to “shrink” for anyone. I hope that this message continues to echo outside this space and those who need to hear it, do.

What is Diet Culture?

As coined by a fellow dietitian, it’s a “set of beliefs that worships thinness and equates it with health and moral virtue.” We’ve lived and breathed this culture for so long. We’re a product of it, it’s ingrained in us, we’re numb to it, and conditioned to just accept it. We need to finally break the mold and dismantle this belief system, for good.  .

…it’s time to finally let go of a name that never aligned with my mission as a clinical nutritionist. it”s time to welcome Labeless Nutrition.

From the moment we’re born, we are labeled.

We continue to label every corner of our lives from our gender to sexual orientation, relationships, but especially.. our diet. If there is one thing I understand as a clinical nutritionist, it’s that just like our lives our eating habits are never linear. They shift, change with the seasons, the day of the week, our mood, and should never be black and white.

When thinking of a name that encapsulated the essence of what Eat Drink Shrink should have always been, Labeless was it. In the past 10 years or more, I removed labels from my diet and just focused on plants. As a once raw vegan, this small simple step.. was liberating. I removed rigid eating habits, and it enabled me to truly manifest long term wellness.. and I never looked back. While EDS was only a name, I carried it for so long. Simply stepping out from behind it feels like a weight has been lifted, and rather than shrink..

I can finally, grow.

The Future

At Labeless we’ll continue to focus on plants, but embrace more of “me” both in the kitchen and in the realm of nutrition. We’ll continue to provide the same content, but elevated, with even more authenticity and transparency. All elements of EDS are slowly being removed, but of course it will take time. I appreciate your patience. I hope you’ll continue to join me in this new chapter.

Thank you for welcoming me into your kitchen and  for supporting EDS.
